Located at a distance of 18 kms from jammu , jhiri is a famous place of the matryrdrom of Baba Jitto . Pilgrim from distant places come to pay obeisance at this place of workship . It is connected through a link road of 4 kms length at a distance of 14 kms from Jammu on State Highway leading from Jammu to Akhnoor town . Akhnoor is historical place situated at a distance of 15 kms from Jhiri. A legend links the caves on the left bank of Chenab River near bridge where Padvas stayed during their exile period for sometime. This route takes one to Shiv Khori , a prominent place of Lord Shiva’s Cave shrine . The number of devotees is swelling every year at Jhiri and presently touching about slightly less than one million numbers who visit during popularly known ‘Jhiri Mela’ which falls on Kartik Purnima(the late autumn Full moon). This fair is held every year . another boon is the kund (small underground water body ) where infertile women taking bath are blessed with bearing a child.
Babe- Da- Talab
Babe Da Talab is at the distance of 4 Kms from Jhiri on the state Highway leading to Akhnoor Town . Baba Jitto used to plough the fields at this place before attaining martyrdom. Emerged in faith , devotees taking bath in the Talab are blessed with cure from diseases.
Burj and Sui Temples
The architecture of these temples is exhilarating for their uniqueness. These ancient historical temples close to Jhiri are located at a distance of just 2 kms with pucca black topped road . These temples are steeped legend . A story goes to tell that there lived saint named SUI with occult powers and demonstrated to the would be king of that time . Similarlly , the matel idols , being of gold metal converted into some alloy when attempt to steal these was made at that time .
The Entrance of Burj Temple The architecture of the temple at Burj is worth notimg for its uniqueness. Here the legend mention about seven established in the shape of round stone structures in the basement of the Temple.
